From today the 12th of May 2026 the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and DfT have changed the law so that is illegal for anyone but the test candidate to book, cancel or change a practical driving test.

The reason for these changes is simply that the DVSA cannot provide enough tests for the present public needs. This is impacted by the increase in buying tests and reselling them at massively inflated prices by third party sellers. Sadly, the DVSA have got this all wrong and these changes will not stop the apps/bots in fact it is our belief that these changes will encourage people to go to the resellers.

Due to it being made illegal for driving instructors and driving schools to book driving tests we can no longer help by booking your driving test for you. We can however supply training in an intensive manner leading up to your driving test if you can secure a test. We have 2 options for you,

  1. You book your driving test as the 1st thing you do and we will arrange your training leading up to this test. It will as always be with 5 hours of training per day over “X” number of days depending on your experience. We do also offer semi-intensive driving courses which are arranged in the same manner but with 2.5 hours of training over consecutive days. With both types of courses, the last hour on the last day will be arranged as your practical driving test.
  2. The split course approach – This is where we arranged ½ of your training asap with either 5 or 2.5 hours of training per day whilst you book your own driving test. Once the practical driving test date & time have been arranged, we will then arrange the remaining days/hours of your training leading into the last hour of your training which will be aligned with your practical driving test.

Regardless of how you arrange your intensive driving course we will allocate the same driving instructor and car if they are available.

We will continue to provide the very best driver training through our intensive driving courses and our regular driving lessons to help you become a safe and independent driver which happens to be the driving test standard. This should give you the very best chance of passing your driving test 1st time.
