Improvements to the ADI part 1 test otherwise known as the Part 1. Whilst the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) have decided to revamp the theory test the core subjects will remain the same but the sources of information will be changing according to the press release issued today.

The results from the trial will be available from the Autumn of 2025 and I have no doubt at this point the DVSA will make some tweaks before they decide when to change the format of the test.

At present the route to becoming a driving instructor is,

Part 1 – Theory & Hazard Perception Test

Part 2 – Practical Driving Test

Part 3 – The teaching Test

At the present time the part 2 & part 3 tests are difficult to organise as there just simply are not enough Enforcement Examiners so the delay can be as much as 3 to 4 months which is why at this time the DVSA are agreeing to a second trainee licence.
