Step 1 – Log into the DVSA – https://www.gov.uk/book-driving-test
Step 2 – Click on the Start Now Button
Step 3 – Choose Type of Test – Select Car (manual and automatic)
Step 4 – Tick the box declaring you are the candidate booking the driving test and press Agree to continue.
Step 5 – Enter your provisional driving licence number, select whether you need to take an extended test or not and select whether you have any special requirements. In the majority of pupils, the answer will be No to both questions. If you enter Yes to either of these questions, please fill in the required information then press Continue.
Step 6 – Enter your preferred test date, obviously this will always be subject to DVSA test availability.
Instructor’s reference number is Optional and not required to move onto the next page. If you know your instructors reference number then this can be entered.
Step 7 – Enter your postcode or preferred driving test centre and press Find test centres.
Step 8 – Select the preferred test centre and if any test slots are available, they will appear on the screen for you to select. Once you select the date you want to book it will show any time slots free for that day. Once you select the time you require press the Continue Button, you will then have 15 minutes to complete the booking.
If there is no availability at your chosen test centre it will list other test centres nearest to your location which may have test dates if this would be an option for you.
Step 9 – Enter all your personal details that are required on this page and press Next: payment details
Step 10 – Enter your bank card details and press Continue to complete the booking. Once the payment has been taken you will receive and email confirmation for the test along with your unique booking reference number.
